RTVCE migrates its news production and archive systems to HD thanks to VSN

The TV channel has bet on VSN‘s solutions and Provideo Sevilla systems’ integrator for the deployment of a state-of-the-art platform for media management, together with a new archive system and the complete migration to HD of the whole VSN’s news production system already owned by the channel.

Radio televisión Ceuta (RTVCE) has trusted VSN’s technology once again for the technical upgrade of all its software solutions and the migration of its entire news production and archive systems to High Definition (HD), after using this software for seven years.

RTVCE chooses VSN

In particular, the project has upgraded VSNNEWS solution for news and programs’ production and has also integrated it with the Edius NLE already owned by RTVCE. Moreover, the upgrade has contributed also to migrate 6,500 hours in DV25 Mbs from an archived system based on a LTO-3 library to a brand-new nearline archive DAC Alto, comprising a total capacity of 80 redundant TB.

Together with these, there has also been installed and deployed as the central core of the project the solution VSNEXPLORER MAM for media asset management. In particular, this system fully developed in HTML5 has been implemented to organise and manage all the audiovisual files archived at the channel’s facilities in a more effective way, so journalists and editors can access to them directly from their computers.

RTVCE chooses VSNEXPLORER

VSNEXPLORER MAM is also the software solution in charge of managing all the channel’s content and allowing users to quickly locate files archived within the system, thanks to its advanced search features through metadata. Moreover, among its multiple uses, this module also allows sending files from production directly to the newly installed nearline archive; retrieving them, even at a partial level, to work in low resolution; or carrying out concrete actions and workflows over this content.

This project, that is currently undergoing the end of the production phase, is expected to be fully operational by March 2017. The deployment and implementation of all these new software solutions was carried out without disrupting neither the TV channel’s daily workflows, nor the journalists dynamics.
