TVU NETWORKS SHOWCASES INTERNET-BASED REMOTE MULTI-CAMERA PRODUCTION SOLUTION IN EUROPEAN DEBUT AT IBC2016

TVU Networks, the global technology leader in live IP video solutions, will officially showcase TVU RPS (Remote Production System) for the first time in Europe at IBC 2016 on stand 2.B28. TVU RPS is TVU Network’s cost-effective alternative solution for live, remote, multi-camera news and sports coverage drastically reducing the costs broadcasters traditionally face.

The use of mobile production trucks is a common method for remote broadcast coverage. However, the repeated deployment of vehicles, equipment and crews can drive up operational costs. TVU RPS removes the need for production trucks and large crews by delivering live, synchronized, multi-camera remote video production using a broadcaster’s existing studio control room and a public Internet connection from the field. The TVU RPS transmitter encodes up to four synchronized SDI sources and transmits high-quality and low-latency IP video from a field transmitter to a studio-based receiver. The receiver, in turn, outputs four synchronized SDI outputs.

TVU RPS also provides a full set of broadcast-centric features including a low-latency, return video feed from the studio to the field as well as IFB. With TVU RPS, control and metadata data can be sent to and from the remote site, including teleprompter, tally light, GPS and location specific metadata.

“With TVU RPS, broadcasters can do remote production for live coverage without the need for expensive, dedicated fiber or large groups of on-location production crews to achieve high cost savings. RPS leverages a broadcaster’s existing studio production infrastructure and existing high-speed Internet connections at the remote location, allowing broadcasters to expand video coverage of more news and regional sports,” said Paul Shen, CEO, TVU Networks. “TVU RPS features the same technology developed from other proven TVU IP solutions, including our award-winning uplink transmitters and TVU Grid video content switching, routing and distribution. It will transform live remote video production, and we are really excited to be launching our newest solution to the European market at IBC.”

TVU RPS supports both 1080i/720p HD as well as NTSC and PAL formats. The system uses TVU’s revolutionary Inverse Statmux Plus (IS+) transmission algorithm for high-quality, low latency transmission in either CBR or VBR modes. The system also features a simple web interface for monitoring and controlling all aspects of the transmission, including real-time previews of all-four channels, current bit-rate and latency.
